Civitta participates in Entrepreneurship Competition Vilnius ‘12

Civitta continues sponsoring business students’ initiatives, and this year it joined Entrepreneurship Competition Vilnius ’12 (ECV ’12) as an Intellectual sponsor. ECV ’12 is the biggest student business competition in Lithuania, organized by Student Association of Vilnius University Faculty of Economics. Civitta provided the competition with case studies for selection and final rounds. The final event took place on February 29 – March 3 in Vinius and had teams from 8 countries. Representatives of Civitta participated in the jury among other respectable Lithuanian business and politics figures.

Civitta's Lithuanian education startegy acknowledged by Ministry of education

In December Civitta has participated in the competition “Lithuanian education scenario 2022” announced by the Ministry of Science and Education. Participants had to propose ideas and recommendations on how to improve education system in Lithuania. Out of 11 participants, including Lithuanian Free Market Institute, professors of various universities and public sector representatives, Civitta’s scenario “Lietuvai” was awarded with the 1st place along with 10k Eur money incentive.

Having identified main problems education system faces at the moment, in the scenario Civitta proposed following strategic actions: 1. In addition to student voucher, introducing utilities and house holding expenses covering voucher for general education institutions 2. Improving pupil/teachers ratio 3. Improving the standards of teachers’ preparation in higher education institutions 4. Improving state financing system for universities and other higher education institutions 5. Setting minimum entry requirements to higher education institutions

Civitta participates in Peak Time 2011

Peak Time is an intense and challenging International Business Student Competition organized by Stockholm School of Economics in Riga and it brings together the smartest students from all over the world. This year Civitta joined Peak Time as a Sponsor and Intellectual Partner, providing unique case studies that challenged participants’ intellectual capabilities, creativity and presentation skills. Civitta representatives participated in jury board sharing real life experiences and providing teams with valuable feedback.

Civitta citizenship award 2011

In order to encourage social responsibility and active citizenship of young people, “Civitta” initiated the Citizenship Award for individuals who have made a difference in their communities. The ideal candidate had to be an outstanding citizen who has notably contributed to the society through such activities as volunteering, community or civic service, extraordinary contributions in arts, sciences, sports, business entrepreneurship or other field. Academic achievements were also important.

From mid February till the end of March a total of 76 3rd year bachelor students from three different universities – Vilnius University, ISM University of Management and Economics and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga – applied. A jury, comprised of one representative from each institution and Civitta itself, evaluated the applications and decided that the winners of Civitta Citizenship Award 2011 are:

  • - Benas Bėrantas from Vilnius University
  • - Rasa Šimulionytė from ISM University of Management and Economics
  • - Aļina Sokaļska from the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga

The winners were announced during two separate award ceremonies in Riga and Vilnius and received a 2500 Lt scholarship each. Civitta is always happy to be involved in promoting civil awareness and interest in social activities among young people and already have plans for more initiatives next year!
